Carin Drechsler-Marx has been living in New York City for more than 60 years. She was born in Strasbourg, France, of German-Czech descent. From 1945-60 she lived in southern Germany until her emigration to the United States.
She studied Fine Arts at the School of Visual Arts, New York (1961-64), then turned to photography in 1971 (coursework at the New School for Social Research, New York, and the International Center of Photography, New York).
